OUR WORK

We initiated FutureFarmersColombia with the intention of fostering real, tangible impact.

In order to provide transparency and track our progress towards established goals, we have outlined the project's phases.

02

Creating the Right Environment

Making the school and grounds inviting and conducive to learning has been a critical early step. Our initial donations have been allocated to various projects, including:

  • Repairing the school building - fixing walls, roof, kitchen and bathrooms, painting, and replacing broken windows

  • Building communal table and benches

  • Planting our vegetable garden

  • Restoring the chicken coop

  • installing a fan in the classroom

04

improving living conditions

Many of the families we serve face challenging circumstances, ranging from difficult to severe. By supporting the parents, we provide direct benefits to their children. We actively listen to the needs of these families and collaborate to create projects aimed at enabling them to generate independent income. Our initial endeavors include:

Chili Pepper Initiative:

In partnership with a local company, we have supplied chili pepper seeds to two families for cultivation. Once harvested, the chili peppers are sold back to the company, providing these families with a source of income that they can reinvest in subsequent cycles. In our initial agreement, we distributed a total of  4,000 seeds.

Bamboo (Guadua) Workshop:

Thanks to your generous donations, we have successfully launched our first bamboo workshop. To make this possible, we have:

  1. Equipped the school with the necessary tools to craft bamboo.

  2. Brought in an expert to teach the inaugural session in person.

  3. Provided tablets to enable ongoing instruction through online video calls.

Macramé Workshop:

We have introduced a macramé workshop at our school, where we teach mothers to craft hammocks. We provide all the necessary materials and offer lessons (in-person with a professional and online tutorials) The finished hammocks will be marketed to help generate income for these families.

High school students from FutureFarmersColombia will attend our school on Saturdays for skill-building classes.

06

Growing seeds of change

With the support of donors, we will initiate the acquisition of land for bamboo cultivation, the primary raw material essential for this project. Expert guidance will be provided for the construction of necessary infrastructure.

08

Cultivating Entrepreneurial Dreams

  • We will nurture the entrepreneurial aspirations of farmers who have demonstrated unwavering commitment to our project. Through both guidance and financial support, we will help  them to bring their community-level entrepreneurial proposals to life.

  • Their success will serve as a beacon of inspiration for the upcoming generation of students. As ambassadors of change, they will play a vital role in our organization's expansion.

01

Engaging  the  parents

We recognize that the success of our children depends on robust support both at school and at home. We actively involve parents in various activities, from school repairs to rebuilding the chicken coop, and participating in the foundation's events. These initiatives not only enhance the school environment but also serve as practical lessons for the children, teaching them by example. Additionally, we are committed to continuing to listen to the parents' needs and developing programs that help improve their families' living conditions.

03

Outfitting for Learning

Donations have enabled us to provide essential items like school supplies, a laptop, a printer, books, games, and new boots for each child,  ensuring our students are well-equipped for their educational journey. We have proudly provided all school supplies for 2023-2024.

Going Beyond the School Walls

In our school, students of various ages learn together. Upon graduation, they move on to one of the two nearby high schools. Our goal is to support them throughout this transition by:

  • Guiding them in discovering their skills with psychological assistance. We'll help them unlock their potential through various activities, crafts, professional agriculture, and bamboo-based self-housing construction.

  • Cultivating curiosity and self-learning abilities to enable limitless development.

  • Initiating community empowerment. These students will become ambassadors of our core values and the impact of this project, sharing their knowledge with other children and the wider community.

07

Building The Workshop center

Here, spaces will be allocated for the children to begin crafting their own furniture and utensils using the main local raw material, bamboo.

  • The Workshop Center will provide specialized technical support and all the necessary agricultural teaching machinery for economic development. This will enable the design and development of projects that benefit families and the region.

  • As the Workshop Center grows, we will focus efforts on the design and construction of simple, sustainable, scalable, housing, with each design including a shed and a garden.

We will evaluate the project’s process and results to improve and evolve.

Our final intention is to expand to more rural schools, driving forward our mission to transform rural Colombia, one student at a time.
